A Brief History
Early Life
Born and raised in Washington DC I grew up with my mom and had a happy childhood accompanied by an inherent love of animals and nature. I've always been an artist and a story teller from the second I could hold a crayon. As a child my toys were my actors and my imagination was the stage for our adventures. My left hand was my hand of choice for drawing and I drew inspiration from the city and my pets. |
A little later
Storytelling and illustration always came so naturally to me that I didn't realize it was my calling until I was about 18 and in college. Drawing was just something I always did, like breathing, it wasn't a conscious effort and because of that it never occurred to me that I could be a professional artist. From the age of 5 to about 18 I was going to become an animal scientist when I grew up and originally I went to school to become a Wildlife Biologist, but after a year of pursuing that major my artistic nature couldn't take another chemistry class... In hindsight I see that I was always going to be an artist and once I switched my major to art I never looked back.
Now
I am an illustrator and aspiring graphic novelist. I recently graduated from Colorado State University with a BFA in Electronic Arts and moved back to my hometown of Washington DC. Nature is still my muse. My ultimate goal is to become an award winning animator, but all good things to those who wait and practice!
